AnyDAC v 1.12 -> FreeDAC PDF Print E-mail
Mar 07, 2010

We have renamed our freeware product AnyDAC v 1.12 to FreeDAC.

The following two our data access libraries were coexisting in last three years:

  • RemObjects AnyDAC. The product is commercial with the latest version v 2.0.17 from 1-March-2010.
  • AnyDAC v 1.12. The product is freeware and does not get any further development science May-2007.

That may make some confusion. To make that coexistance less confusing for da-soft Technologies and RemObjects LLC customers, we renamed AnyDAC v 1.12 to FreeDAC. Although the renaming is pure formal - the API had been not changed and no new features had been added.

What will be changed:

  • The AnyDAC v 1.12 installer AnyDAC1122.exe is renamed to FreeDAC.exe. The version number will be not included, as there will be only one FreeDAC version.
  • da-soft Technologies from now on will reference to AnyDAC v 1.12 as FreeDAC only, including all corresponding site materials and links.
  • Other site optionally will reference to AnyDAC v 1.12 as FreeDAC.

What will be not changed:

  • The company plans regarding FreeDAC. It will not get any further development and updates. And we offer only limited technical support for FreeDAC in our forums.
  • The FreeDAC source code base is AnyDAC v 1.12 source base, including all naming conventions, unit and class names, copyright notes, etc.
  • The FreeDAC installer is AnyDAC v 1.12 installer, so the FreeDAC installer is rerefencing to the product as AnyDAC.
  • The ex AnyDAC 1.12 forum posts reference to FreeDAC as AnyDAC. The AnyDAC v 1.12 forums are renamed to FreeDAC forums.
